Quarantine Policy
Once a Virtual Machine has been reserved it is your responsibility to keep up with it as you would your own computer. This includes keeping it in compliance with OIT's network use policies, like using supported operating systems, applying patches, and configuring endpoint protection. Visit the Security Office website for the network security requirements and a detailed article on quarantining practices.
Compromise
Should your VCM reservation become compromised you will receive a warning about its impending quarantine. It is your responsibility to resolve the issues immediately, as you may not receive further notice.
Quarantine
Should your VCM reservation reach quarantine it will be disconnected from the network and unavailable for use. The VCM Team cannot assist with VM recovery at this point - you will need to contact the Security Office for a temporary lift on the quarantine in order to access your reservation.
Resolution
The preferred solution to both compromise and quarantine is to delete the reservation and create a new one. New reservations are made with compliant operating systems and are safe from quarantine.
Note: Quarantined VMs are not eligible for renewal and will be forcibly deleted at the end of each semester.
